The History of Wild Wool Australia

Ever wondered how Wild Wool Australia came about? Keep reading to find out how this family-owned business started.

So, where did it begin?

The humble beginnings of Wild Wool Australia can be traced back 50 years prior. Co-founder Todd Watt's grandfather started his career in the sheep shearing sheds of rural New South Wales. As a teen, he worked with sheepskin and leather, flourishing his appreciation for the rawest, natural and most versatile of materials. Admiring the passion he saw in his family tree, Todd followed in his family's footsteps and got serious about this iconic material.

2017 & beyond

After learning the ins and outs of small business from his parents and grandparents, as well as honing his skills as a leather craftsman, Todd and his wife Hannah created a locally-managed manufacturing workshop. The objective of the workshop was simple - deliver premium quality, handcrafted sheepskin and leather footwear and apparel that filled a hole in the luxury market. The couple also aimed to design, source, craft and create collections that had a conscious composition. With that in mind, Wild Wool Australia was created to operate seam by seam.

We hope you'll follow our journey!
